We would always suggest that any business with even half an interest in protecting its resources, carries out regular penetration tests (pentest) – at the bare minimum when a system (physical or IT related) is implemented to ensure that it has been done properly.
If you have an internet facing computer system, use e-commerce or simply have a website for marketing purposes then commissioning a pentest will help ensure that you can find out what to fix before the hacker finds it and exploits it. However, even if you don’t rely on the internet, you can still use a pentest to verify your physical and employee security processes. Without the assurance provided by an independent test, you can never be sure what you have works properly.
