Halkyn Consulting is a specialist security consultancy founded in 2010 to help organisations navigate the complex and evolving world of cyber and physical threats. We're based in North Wales, but our reach is global — supporting clients across sectors including finance, defence, manufacturing, education, and critical infrastructure.
Our mission is simple: to provide clear, independent, and effective security advice that helps our clients protect what matters most — their people, their data, and their reputation.
Our Origins
Halkyn Consulting was established in 2010 by Taz Wake, to provide expert security and risk management advice. Since then we have been continuously helping our clients protect their employees, protect their assets, reduce operating costs, exploit new opportunities and win new business.
We started off with a heavy focus on security assurance, pentesting, and risk assessments. We worked with a number of Goverment and private sector clients to deliver high quality operational security, manage vulnerabilities and minimise operational risks. Since 2014, we have specialised in digital forensics and incident response, helping organisations recover from cyber attacks, minimise the impact of breaches and respond to advanced threat actors.
Meet Our Founder: Taz Wake
Taz Wake is the founder and Security Director of Halkyn Consulting. With over two decades of experience in intelligence, cybersecurity, and incident response, Taz brings a rare blend of strategic insight and hands-on technical expertise.
He began his career in military intelligence, working across SIGINT, HUMINT, and counterintelligence roles. As cyber threats became a growing concern, Taz transitioned into digital security — leading incident response teams for FTSE 100 companies and advising on national-level cyber defence strategies.
Today, he is a certified instructor with the SANS Institute and the author of the FOR577: Linux Incident Response & Threat Hunting course. He also teaches advanced digital forensics and threat hunting (FOR508), and regularly contributes to the global security community through research, training, and public speaking.
